Cole Haan Debuts Hand-Painted Oxfords That Are Clown Chic

We love a good DIY project, but sometimes it's better to leave the hard work to the pros (cue last weekend's bathroom wall-papering debacle). So, thank you, Cole Haan–for fall, the classic shoe brand is debuting a range of their signature saddle Oxfords with a color-blocked makeover. Hand-painted in an 11-step process, the "Handpainted Collection"—the women's Stephanie Air Oxord Pump ($328) and the men's Air Colton Saddle Oxford ($228)—exemplify Haan's emphasis on craftsmanship and technology; both styles boast Nike Air technology, meaning your walk of shame just got a whole lot easier. Look for five brash, rich colors and an interesting silhouette—the combination is very 21st-Century Harlequin (not a bad thing!). If you've got the chops to pull it off, we think you can make these babies seriously pop. With careful styling, you'll be joining Cirque du Soleil, not Barnum and Bailey.
The hand-painted oxfords will be available at and Cole Haan Soho, 128 Prince Street (at Wooster Street); 212-219-8240.
