The end of a relationship is never easy. Even celebrity breakups make us more emotional than we'd like to admit. First we grieved over the end of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and now Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are calling it quits. On July 20, the couple released a joint statement regarding their divorce.
"This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter," the statement reads.
The country stars married in 2011, but they fell in love 10 years ago. The CMT's 100 Greatest Duets Concert brought them together, as they sang a touching rendition of "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma." Last year Shelton and Lambert recounted their love story for People. "We got up there on stage for rehearsal, and I don't know, something just happened," Shelton said.
Even off-stage, their love was palpable. Take a look at the bittersweet video below. To watch the performance in full, click here.
It's too early to tell if Shelton and Lambert will take notes on how to amicably sever ties (see: Affleck and Garner, or Martin and Paltrow) but we wish them the best.
