On April 1, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell had secretly filmed a Lifetime movie called A Deadly Adoption. Now, many people suspected the news was an April Fool's prank, but remember that Amazon also released its new Dash button that day. Sometimes life events just happen on April 1, regardless of the day's notorious track record for trickery.

Back to Ferrell, Wiig, and their mysterious Lifetime movie. On April 2, Ferrell released a statement to Entertainment Weekly saying that the two were scrapping the entire project because of the press leak. "We are deeply disappointed that our planned top-secret project was made public. Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely," the actor said at the time.

EW also revealed more information about the two-hour film. It was going to be a "high-stakes dramatic thriller," about a married couple (Ferrell and Wiig) who take in a pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) in the interest of adopting her baby, "only to have the situation spiral dangerously out of control" in the deliciously soapy way that Lifetime movies so often do. A Deadly Adoption was going to be part of a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Lifetime's movie franchise.

Welp, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig continue to keep us in a glass case of emotion. Late last night, THR reported that A Deadly Adoption is back on Lifetime's June schedule. Not only that, a billboard for the film appeared above Hollywood Boulevard with the tagline "The birth of a plan gone wrong." The premiere date on the poster is Sunday, June 20, although THR notes that June 20 is actually a Saturday this year. It's unclear if the date mistake is a joke on the calendar, or a continued prank on us for believing that this movie will make it to air.

We've reached out to Lifetime as well as Ferrell, Wiig, and Lowndes' reps for confirmation. Until then, tentatively block off June 20 and 21, for possibly the greatest Lifetime movie ever. (The Hollywood Reporter)
