We've already weathered the storms of Gmail and Starbucks hacks. Now, it looks like the hilariously conspicuous hookup site Adult FriendFinder is dealing with its own security problems.
The site announced it had been made aware of a breach last week, but others reported on the hack earlier. And, here's the big deal: The hackers got away with nearly 4 million email addresses (out of 63 million users worldwide) that were linked to the site. Information about users' sexual identities, locations, and birth dates was also leaked. But, the site says no passwords were stolen.
As Motherboard speculates, this highly sensitive information could be used to blackmail or shame the site's users. So, if you've given your email to Adult FriendFinder recently — no judgment here — now is probably the time to check on it. And, you know, change your password.
