New Game Of Thrones Trailer Gives Hope Amid Bloodshed

There are episodes when the bleak, violent fate of anyone and almost
everyone on Game of Thrones can get you down, and then there are days like
today, when the second trailer for the season five premiered at the Apple Live
event and was then posted online. The mood of the clip is soaring and hopeful,
despite the requisite bloodshed.

"Lannister, Baratheon, Stark, Tyrell — they're all just
spokes on a wheel," Daenerys says, in a longer version of the speech we
saw a bit of in the first look. "This one's on top, then that one's on
top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground. I'm not going to
stop the wheel, I'm going to break the wheel."

While everyone is at war (and things don't look so hot for Cersei and her scheming ways) she holds out the promise that the
return of the Mother of Dragons to the Iron Throne might finally bring peace.
Even if there will be even more lives lost in getting there.

"I am a queen, not a butcher," she cries, though
we know she's going to have to be both for some time still.

Back in the North, Jon Snow yearns to stop fighting too. "We can learn to live with the wildlings or we can add
them to the army of the dead," he says.

Now, if only those two kids could get together in their mission of not killing everyone forever.
Game of Thrones premieres on April 12 on HBO and on HBO Now, the brand-new standalone streaming service, which launches that very day.
