Scarlett Johansson Debuts New Song With A Haim Sister

Scarlett Johansson's been away from the music scene for a hot minute. Her brief foray didn't extend far beyond the alternative singer/songwriter genres, with 2008's Tom Waits covers LP and a track with Pete Yorn a year later.  Now, the actress is back and gone full pop.  With the help of Este Haim, Holly Miranda, Kendra Morris, Julia Haltigan, and TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek, Johansson has formed The Singles. "Candy" is its first single that debuted via Rolling Stone earlier today. "I would say it's super-pop," Johansson said in a press release. "The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls." She cites Grimes, the Bangles and the Go-Go's as influences. Still, "Candy" leans more towards the latter than the former with a dash of ironic Brooklyn synths.  Check it out below. (Rolling Stone)
