Rita Ora Reveals The Origin Of Her Signature Look & New Adidas Collab

It's safe to say that Rita Ora is shoe-obsessed. When we asked the singer-turned-fashion icon (and face of the new Adidas Superstars re-launch) how many shoes she's ever bought in one go, she coyly replied, "Oh, I'm ashamed to answer that one, honestly!" Perhaps this is to be expected from a woman who's just launched her fourth collection with the cult shoe label. "I've always been a sneakers kind of girl, but I love that kicks are now trendy in lots of circles, not just in hip-hop," Ora told us. "I would definitely wear an athletic-looking shoe on the red carpet, and I have many times! I think it's a great way to play up different elements of an outfit and to make it unique."

For her new line with Adidas, which drops March 1, Ora took inspiration from her own style signature — her bold, red lips. "Ever since seeing Gwen Stefani in her red lip, I've worn it as well and made it my own, so much so that my lips are highlighted in one of the graphics," she explained of the comic book-inspired prints adorning the line's sporty silhouettes. "Red lips are a look I never get sick of, but I have come to accept that sometimes, if my clothes are a bit loud, I need to tone it down." But, never one to play by the rules, the color volume is certainly turned up on Ora's latest offerings — and we wouldn't want it any other way.

"My style is very eclectic and changes every day," Ora told us. "I have my days where I feel like dressing more tomboy, and others where I’m feeling super-girly and just want to put on a big, beautiful dress."

According to Ora, style inspiration can strike at any time. "I am always looking for inspiration, both in traditional places like on the runway or in a magazine, as well as just around me, people on the street, when I travel, at art galleries — anywhere!"

Where does Ora shop when she's jet-setting? "My favorite boutique is What Goes Around Comes Around in New York City, and I absolutely love shopping at the shops along Bond Street in London."

While it may be work to keep up her signature beauty look of platinum hair, red lips, and a bold cat eye, Ora thinks it's totally worth it. "It doesn’t matter how long it takes — it’s about creating moments," she noted. "Now that I’m blonde, I have to tone my hair every other day, so it’s a lot of maintenance, but you know what they say — I’m just having more fun!"

"I always experimented with beauty, growing up," Ora explained about her evolving look. "I got it from my mom — she's so glamorous. Being a mom is tough enough, and yet she always looked fabulous. She always was (and continues to be) my inspiration."

Keep an eye on this look, as it may make a high-profile appearance very soon. "I am going to try and incorporate some of my collection on a red carpet," Ora confided.

Like so many in the fashion world, Ora is also obsessed with perennially cool and classic sneakers. "I definitely have bought my fair share of Stan Smiths over the years," she said. "Now, I have quite a few from my own line."

A crop top this graphic doesn't need much embellishment. High-waisted jeans or a skater skirt will do.
