Ben Affleck Is The People's Choice For Favorite Humanitarian

Ben Affleck may or may not receive a golden statue for potentially murdering his fictional wife in David Fincher's screen adaptation of last year's Gone Girl, but he's definitely getting an award this year.
The Hollywood actor is slated to receive the People's Choice Award for Favorite Humanitarian this coming Wednesday, January 7. This will be the third time the award has been given out.
Over the past five years, Affleck's Eastern Congo Initiative has helped produce grants and investments that provide a voice for the Congolese people and the space to develop smart and sustainable economic and social opportunities. Last February, Affleck testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on the Congo's violence.

The People's Choice Awards' executive producer Mark Burnett said, "We are so pleased to honor Ben with the 2015 People’s Choice Humanitarian Award." He went on to stress how important the award has become to the ceremony. "It highlights a different side of a celebrity and helps bring awareness to a cause that our audience can support."
Though Affleck might not seem like the first celebrity humanitarian worthy enough of receiving the award (Angelina Jolie did receive honorary damehood last year for her campaign to end war zone sexual violence), the PCA's have always chosen an unsuspecting celeb: Jennifer Hudson received the award last year for her work with the Julian D. King Gift Foundation and Sandra Bullock's work with the Warren Easton High School in New Orleans earned her the award in 2013.
Tune in Wednesday, January 7 at 9 p.m. EST to see it all go down. (International Business Times UK)
