There had been speculation for a while, but now it's been confirmed. Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy, the frontman of Muse, have ended their engagement. Hudson's rep confirmed the split in a statement to People.
"Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now. Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents," Hudson's rep told the magazine.
Bellamy first popped the question in April 2011, and the couple welcomed son Bingham Hawn Bellamy in July 2011. Their very long engagement never bothered Hudson, who had been married once before to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson. The actress also told Women's Health magazine that she looked to her parents, who never married, for relationship inspiration. "They didn't feel like they needed a piece of paper to be committed...I know that marriage is not a golden ticket," Hudson said in the magazine's October issue.
In November, several outlets speculated that Hudson was sporting a new engagement ring. Now, however, it's looking more likely that it was just a new bauble on the always well-accessorized actress. (People)
