SJP Introduces The Dress That Doesn’t Look Like A Dress

Sarah Jessica Parker's never been one to shy away from a fashion statement. The shoe designer and sometimes neighbor-annoyer attended last night's Footwear New Achievement Awards in a Delphine Manivet gown and beige T-strap pumps from her own SJP shoe line. In some ways, the dress was your typical, red carpet frippery, with its ruffles and full, tea-length skirt. But, the piece flexes its fashion muscle with a few subtle touches. (We're looking at you, baby-Mugler shoulders.)
But, maybe our favorite part of this look is what's going on at Parker's midsection. No, that's not actually a crop top being worn with a ball skirt. It's a mesh panel that cleverly extends to SJP's sleeves, giving the illusion that this dress is in four separate pieces. It is, quite possibly, the most demure way to wear a crop top.
Kudos to SJP for keeping the crop look classy enough for the red carpet. Taylor Swift, when you get tired of matching sets, hit this look up.
