Varsity jackets had a huge moment a few years ago, but the traditional topper, which first became popular back in the '60s, has never really gone away. And, it's definitely not going to now that Beyoncé was just spotted in one.
Hours after she gave us the surprise of the week (Month? Century?) by dropping the best music video in ages, she stepped out in New York City for a date, with some guy named Jay, wearing a black-and-white Ashish track jacket emblazoned with "Bow Down" on the back in sparkly sequins. Given the week she's had, the message couldn't be more spot-on. She paired the sporty statement piece with a leather mini and lace-up booties, then added comparatively conservative striped socks and a chambray button-up, which brought a playful wink to the whole look.
All this means is that now's the time to dig up that track jacket you've had in storage for the last year and a half (or decade and a half). Wear it with a leather skirt, and it'll look as good as new. Bow down, indeed.
