Holy YA franchise overload, Batman! Just when you thought The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 was enough to whet your dystopian palate, the Divergent series has reared its action-packed head.
The first trailer for Insurgent, the second film in the series, has arrived in all its fiery glory. And, though it's short on time, it's long on general confusion.
Shailene Woodley's Tris was last seen escaping the ruined city of Chicago with her band of survivors. A war is definitely looming — but that's not what this first trailer seems to hint at. Instead, this whole sequence feels like the audience is inside Tris' mind, confronting her fears like they were when she took her aptitude test in Divergent. (This would make sense in light of what happened to her mom.) However, these franchise movies are always riddled with some wizardry that would
probably definitely not exist if our real world were to ever become a real dystopia.
Good thing there's enough time between this apocalyptic film's March 20, 2015 premiere date and that other apocalyptic film's premiere date to properly mull these things over.
