Listen To Weezer Return To The ’90s With “Lonely Girl”

Leave it to Weezer to deliver a song about loneliness that's totally upbeat and totally danceable.

The beloved band is back to their feel-good, nerd-crush modus operandi with the release of "Lonely Girl." Despite the melancholy title, this straight-up pop tune is a worthy follow-up to "Undone" and "Buddy Holly." Obviously, we love it.

And, there's plenty more where that came from. This is just one track from the band's forthcoming release Everything Will Be Alright In The End, out October 7. Ric Ocasek of The Cars produced the album, which is the group's first since 2010.

And, frontman Rivers Cuomo has confirmed that the album is a return to Weezer's old-school roots.

"I think there are a few ways of adjusting to the new world where people don’t listen to albums anymore they listen to playlists or just buy singles — and maybe we've tried to evolve with the time, but you know that’s not who we are, so ultimately this time we’re going all in again and we’re going to make a great rock album like the good old days and put everything we have into it," he told NME. "Maybe no one will appreciate it that way but we think that it's what our core fans really want from us and that’s what we’re best at."
