The beauty looks at Dior's fashion shows tend to be dramatic. After all, this is the brand that sent the original divergent eyeliner down the runway and brought the world gilded eyebrows. But, at today's spring 2015 show, Peter Philips, creative-and-image director of Christian Dior Makeup, brought the focus back to the eyes, utilizing innovative stick-on eyeliner strips in lieu of traditional painted pigment.
This isn't the first time Philips has played around with adhesive liner. He added a similar accent — in blue leather — during his turn backstage at Fendi this season. At Dior, the look was decidedly softer: The eyeliner patches, which will be available in January as part of Dior's spring line, came in various pastel shades: pistachio, rose, peach, and yellow. Philips also swept Fusion Mono Matte Eyeshadow in Fantaisie, a ballet pink, all over the lids, and drew Crayon Khôl in White along the waterline .
While not everyone would go running around with pastel eyeliner on a daily basis (although, we're totally supportive of that becoming a thing), the appliqué kind could prove to be a helpful tool to stash in your makeup kit. It's especially great for those of us who are less-than-stellar at applying their own liner. Simply slip one of these above your lashline, and voilà. Accessibility isn't exactly what comes to mind when you think Dior, but these strips may signal a new, exciting chapter in the brand's history — and even more evidence of Philips' genius at work.
