Adele Album Rumors: Not So Fast

The Internet woke up to potentially earth-shattering news today, after multiple outlets reported that Adele's next album would be called 25 and that a world tour would immediately follow its release.
Well, put away your streamers and return those triple-decker cakes, people. It's not time to celebrate the return of the world's most famous singer not-named-Beyonce just yet.
According Martin Mills, chairman of Beggars Group (the parent company to Adele's XL recordings), there's "no truth" to this morning's report. The apparent confusion stemmed from a tweet sent out by the official Twitter account of The World Music Awards, which read "#adele confirms 2015 Tour After The Release Of Her New Album '25'!"
The tweet has since been deleted.
We're not exactly sure who runs the account or why they decided to toy with the world's emotions like that, but if that's someone's idea of a sick joke, nobody's laughing.
The good news is that a new Adele album is expected sometime this year, and it's likely to be called 25. Not only would it follow the trend of the singer naming her records after the age she was when she recorded them, but she also sent a cryptic tweet earlier this year that helped fuel speculation about the upcoming album's title. "Bye bye 25... See you again later in the year," it read.
So, unless Adele actually has a friend named 25 and they have plans to hang later this year, it's likely that her new album will indeed be called25. (Billboard)
