This Hairstyle Isn’t As Crazy As It Seems

The beauty looks at Paris Couture Week always seem to lean toward the dramatic (see: swan-eyes). So, when we see a look that we love, our brains start doing circles trying to figure out if it's one we can actually translate to our non-model, runway-inexperienced selves. This rope braid at Lena Hoschek was one such puzzle.
Positioned atop the models' heads were plaits that were then twisted on top of each other, creating a coiled crown. While it's a style we can certainly see influencing our own updos, we're not quite sure we can strut into work with our hair done up in a mass that huge. Aside from the fact that this is one majorly dramatic look, it's also important to note that much of this 'do is likely not made from the model's own hair. We'd rather not have to buy stock in a wig company in order to do our braids.
That said, there is a way we can see this style translating to our regularly scheduled hairstyling — just change the positioning, and downsize the twist. Pull your strands into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck, split it into multiple sections, and braid those sections. Then, twist the braids onto themselves until you get lump-like bumps, and pin. Once all the sections are wrapped, spritz them with hairspray. There you have it: couture you can wear year-round.
