This Is How Britney & Justin Should Have Done Coordinating Denim

No doubt about it: Iggy Azalea and Nick Young are pretty darn adorable. They post playful #selfies, gaze deep into each other's eyes over brunch, and are not afraid of a little PDA on the red carpet. Still, we wouldn't have gone so far as to compare the "Fancy" singer and 6-foot-7 Laker to one of the most talked-about couples of the early aughts. That was, until Azalea and Young borrowed Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's steez.
While the pop music power couple may have long since split (RIP), we'll argue that one of the biggest legacies they left behind was in the form of the two head-to-toe denim looks they surprised us all with at the 2001 American Music Awards. Now, 13 years later, Iggy and Nick have not only duplicated the trend of couple's coordinating denim, they may have even bested it. The Australian rapper wore a form-fitting, colorblocked strapless dress to the Capital Radio Summertime Ball over the weekend, while her beau settled for distressed jeans. His look is no faded-denim-blazer-and-western-hat combo, but we're not prepared to say that's a bad thing. Rather than bashing us over the head with blues, Young subtly nods to Azalea's textile of choice. And, a snapback is just a bit more relaxed than, say, balancing oversized headgear and a pair of ombre shades.
Of course, while complimentary wardrobes do not a strong couple make — although Kim and Kanye also gave it a spin — should the special person you'd gladly ignore your eggs Benedict for be a fan of getting fancy in matching ensembles, then feast your eyes on a bit of two-for-one inspiration.
