Charlie Hunnam: Fifty Shades Of Grey Exit Was “Heartbreaking”

Jax Teller fans aren't the only ones bummed about Charlie Hunnam pulling out of the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film. Turns out the Sons of Anarchy actor is, too.
Hunnam was originally tapped to play lothario Christian Grey in the big-screen adaptation of E.L. James' racy novel but dropped out last October. Northern Irish heartthrob Jamie Dornan will now play Grey opposite Dakota Johnson's Anastasia Steele.
Though it was reportedly his decision to pull out of the film, Hunnam says his exit wasn't without regret.
“I felt like I had an interesting take on that character and felt like I could have done a good job of playing Christian Grey, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken it on in the first place,” the British star told Life & Style at the Huading Film Awards last weekend.
“When you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind, it’s heartbreaking not to be able to play him...It was definitely kind of heartbreaking having to say goodbye to that character and not bring it to life.”
For now, Hunnam will be staying in his bad-boy biker leathers for SOA's final season, which premieres this fall. Don't worry — he gets naked in that show, too. (Life & Style)
