With her angelic curls and glowing skin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been on our radar for years now. But, we knew it was only a matter of time before the gorgeous Brit had her big break. So, we were thrilled to see her at the New York premiere of her latest film, Belle — and the actress looked straight-up stunning.
For the premiere, Mbatha-Raw arrived in a silk dress in an incredible shade of chartreuse. But, while the gown had a glow of its own, her beauty look — courtesy of makeup genius Nick Barose — ensured that all eyes were on Gugu's lovely face.

Barose explains that Mbatha-Raw's gown reminded him of fresh spring leaves, so he chose makeup with peach and soft purple tones to complement it. To start, Mbatha-Raw's skin was prepped with Juara Tamarind Tea Hydrating Toner and was followed by Juara’s Sweet Black Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer, which Barose says makes the ideal smooth-yet-matte canvas for makeup.
Next, Barose created a subtle smoky eye with violet shades from Tom Ford's Eyeshadow Quad in Lavender Lust and applied Chanel’s Glossimer in Wild Rose. The result? A dreamy spring look perfect for an up-and-coming actress. Take note, readers: Gugu Mbatha-Raw is destined to be our newest beauty star.
