Grease Will Get The Live Sound Of Music Treatment

Two things were clear after NBC's live staging of The Sound of Music in December. It was ratings gold and an unqualified disaster. The staging was awkward, the acting atrocious, and even the costumes somehow were just wrong. "I wished the hills were alive with the sound of hungry mountain lions," TIME's Charlotte Alter wrote of the TV extravaganza. Even the von Trapps were disappointed.
But, the ratings — those delicious ratings! — are all that mattered.
To wit, FOX has announced it will give the same treatment to Grease and its band of musical misfits at some point in 2015. Just as Carrie Underwood stood in for Maria von Trapp, perhaps Miley Cyrus could play Rizzo? One can only hope. (Vulture)
