This Coldplay Musician’s Home Does Masculine-Meets-Elegant Perfectly

We imagine most rock-and-roll musicians' crash pads to be more funky than feng shui. They all have a variety of instruments strewn across the floor and vintage posters hanging on the wall, right? Not exactly. We were happily surprised to open Elle Decor's latest issue and find Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland's New York apartment to be perfectly streamlined, offering up some beautiful dark and light color contrasts. Masculine, high-design rooms still maintain personality, while the bright, white walls coupled with black cabinetry are the very definition of clean and grown-up — proving that opposites do attract.
This design perspective continues with the furniture, too. Leather club chairs match with a blue-velvet sofa in the living room, and mod, white lamps pair well with a rustic, linen pillow cover in the bedroom. Click through for our favorite styling takeaways, and then head over to Elle Decor for the full story. Surprisingly, there's not a vintage guitar in sight.
