Tamera Mowry-Housley Makes The Switch To Natural Hair

For many women who've been relaxing and processing their hair for years, the decision to go natural is a significant one. People recently spoke to Tamera Mowry-Housley, the latest celebrity to debut gorgeous, cropped natural hair this week via her Instagram account.
Mowry-Housley's shorter style is part of a process known as "The Big Chop" among natural hair enthusiasts, which means all damaged, processed hair is removed in favor of only natural length showing. The star reports she was inspired by a need to simply be herself. "I wanted to start the new year by starting fresh and just … being who God made me to be," she says in the article. You can read more in the piece about her process to go natural in the link below, but we salute her decision. Plus, the style is super cute, no? For some of us who've struggled with that decision, it's another inspiring example of how it can be done.
Although Mowry-Housley admits that she may wear her hair straight now and again, the decision to put heat stress on her hair occasionally is a healthy one we can get behind. Maybe it's time for more of us to relax our standpoint on forcing our hair texture to be something other than what it is. Nice 'do, gal! (PEOPLE)
