Introducing Your Guy’s New Grooming Saviors

It's no secret that we regard Eastern Confederate owner Ryan Hunter Mitchell as one of the coolest among D.C.'s gifted hair gurus. So, when the well-coiffed stylist dropped a hint last month about a new line of handmade, mostly-unisex grooming products, you'd better believe we listened. And, ta-da! The line, dubbed Tincture, is now available at the Mount Pleasant salon and online via an Etsy shop.
"The goal with these products was mainly to create the things that our clients were asking for, with a natural approach that actually worked — and to be able to refill the bottles when clients were all out," Mitchell explains. "It's pretty insane how many bottles we throw out, so hopefully we can help our clients cut down on [waste]."
Mitchell utilizes natural ingredients and essential oils in place of synthetic versions as often as possible, while keeping each product effective. The entire collection is sulfate-free; the two shampoos rely on coconut and unrefined African black soap, which is loaded with raw shea butter, to cleanse and moisturize.
Most of the products in the collection are unisex, but a few — like the mustache wax, woodsy-scented hair clay, and Cowboy Cologne eau de toilette — are designed with the modern-day gentleman in mind. As for us, we're itching to get our hands on the Adriatic red salt sea spray and the hair powder made from French chalk, jasmine, and oat. Click through for a sneak peek at some of our favorite Tincture goodies.
