Don't Let Windburn Ruin Your Face This Winter

emb
There are times we emerge from the cold looking like a pretty winter fairy (talk about the perfect natural flush of color). And, then there are times we veer into Abominable Snowman territory — our skin not only looks like it's been tortured, but feels like it, too. The culprit? Windburn. The often-painful condition is the result of exposure to cold temperatures and low humidity, which in turn messes with skin's natural oils.
As PopSugar reports, windburn is caused by the dilation of blood vessels in our outer layer of skin. Using products like sunblock and SPF-infused lip balms in a proactive manner can stop the problem from happening at all. But, should you be caught mid-snowstorm sans mittens or moisturizer, there are ways to treat windburn.
