What we love about Instagram is that, despite the flattering filters, it's at least free of serious retouching — right? Well, not if you're an international supermodel. Miranda Kerr, former Victoria's Secret Angel, recently posted a photo of herself with Doutzen Kroes and Alessandra Ambrosio after the 2012 Victoria's Secret fashion show. Commenters were quick to point out that the photo showed some significant differences between the original version snapped by Vogue last year.
Above is the photo Kerr originally posted, which has since been deleted from her Instagram. Her followers tracked down the original, and there's no denying that this has been 'shopped. But, last night, Kerr reposted the original, unedited photo with this response: "Hi guys, here is the original VS image! When I re-posted the photo this week to support the girls I screen grabbed it off the internet when I was working in Japan. I had no idea it was photoshopped. All good intentions- sorry for the confusion and congratulations to the girls for such a great show!"
Yet another instance of Photoshop that leaves us asking "why?" She looks amazing in the original. There is really zero reason to change anything, here. It's sad, though not surprising, to think that models are so used to seeing their image altered that they don't even recognize a significant change to their body shape. We can't imagine what it must be like to see that happen so publicly — but, kudos to Kerr for taking it all in stride, and we admire her for not shying away from what happened.
