With a gridlock of stores up and down Michigan Avenue and State Street, Chicago shoppers want for nothing — except, maybe, a Uniqlo. Well, we hate to break it to you, but you shouldn't look for one any time too soon.
According to Racked, the Japanese company is skipping over the Midwest in its upcoming 20-store expansion. Because Midwesterners are apparently not too aware of the brand, there are concerns about the larger advertising costs needed to promote a single Chicago outpost and with training the "right people." Hmm...
But, regardless of Uniqlo's decision not to expand to Chi-town, there are plenty of stylish consumers who prove a Chicago flagship is not only wanted but needed.
