Watch Ron Howard and Jay Z’s Made In America Documentary

Ron Howard's documentary on Jay Z, Made in America, premiered last night on Showtime. In it, the director goes behind the scenes of the titular Philly music festival, which brought together acts as diverse as the Hives and Jill Scott. Howard follows Jay Z and other bands on the event lineup (including Kanye West, Pearl Jam, Passion Pit, and Run-D.M.C.) as they prepare for the massive show. The footage of the event alone puts it up there with some of the best concert documentaries ever. And, of course, it features an inside look at Jay Z's life, too. This includes a visit to his old haunt at 560 State Street in Brooklyn, which now has views of the Barclay's Center. How poignant.
