Don't you think it's a little odd that, even after all the changes the tech industry has made to our lives over the last decade or so, the field's workforce looks like something out of the past (that is, white and male)? In his starring turn in our San Francisco edition of 30 Under 30, Tristan Walker, too, discussed his attempts to bring that world into balance with his CODE2040 minority-supporting non-profit.
Of course, Walker's efforts to change the game would be all for naught if he weren't actually the picture of a tech-industry insider himself. A Stanford Business School graduate with experience as the Director of Business Development at Foursquare and most recently as the Entrepreneur in Residence at Andreessen Horowitz, the Palo Alto resident knows how his set works and plays. This is wonderful for helping young minorities find a place in tech, but it's just as useful for Refinery29's current purposes — finding a little fun in Steve Jobs' old backyard and Facebook's current home.
