Shailene Woodley Makes Her Own Toothpaste, Among Other Things

Thanks to the indie-darling flick The Spectacular Now and the hype for the upcoming Divergent franchise, Shailene Woodley is blowing up big time. And while she's totally gorgeous, we're also finding out that she's amazingly quirky. In a new interview with Flaunt, she fessed up to living a total foraging lifestyle. We're talking hunting and gathering, eschewing Western medicine, and making her own, well, everything.
"I gather my own spring water from mountains every month," she told the mag. "I go to a farm to get my food. I make everything, from my own toothpaste to my own body lotions and face oils. I could go on for hours. I make my own medicines; I don’t get those from doctors. I make my own cheese and forage wild foods and identify wild plants. It’s an entire lifestyle. It’s appealing to my soul."
While we were skeptical at first, we've gotta say that her laid-back life is starting to sound more and more appealing. We might not be ready to use homemade deodorant, but we're giving her major props for originality and completely owning herself. And, there's no denying that whatever she's doing is seriously working.
In the Flaunt article, she took some time out from talking up her foraging ways to pose for a beachside photo shoot. Rocking beachy waves, casual-cool outfits, and some old-Hollywood glamour, the former George Clooney costar has us completely captivated. Click through for a look at the entire gorgeous spread, and don't be surprised if you start researching your nearest source of mountain spring water.
