We're pretty much Stans when it comes to Janelle Monáe — the woman has an powerful set of pipes, her dance moves are on par with the late James Brown's, and her style is inimitable. So, when we caught wind of her latest video, "Dance Apocalyptic," we were excited to watch it...and then Janelle went ahead and made us do a double take.
See, we're used to her usual hair-and-makeup uniform of crimson lips and a signature pompadour. But, in her new video, she's doin' a decidedly different beauty look: long, natural hair, nude lips, and taxicab-yellow fingernails. (Her makeup artist for the video, Saisha Beecham, created the golden-girl eye makeup with Covergirl Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Melted Gold.) It's a fun switch for someone who has already, in the eyes of some (ahem), developed an iconic beauty look — and, as shown with yet another of her characters midway through the video, Ms. Monáe can pull off just about any style she wants to.
