Altuzarra Is En Pointe With The New York City Ballet

Call it dance fever, but some of the coolest, most lusted-after designers have gravitated right towards the New York City Ballet. First, there was last year's Rodarte costume debut at the David H. Koch Theatre, and now, this past Wednesday night, we watched as the performers, sheathed in Joseph Altuzarra, earned a huge round of applause.
Kicking off the annual NYC Ballet Spring Gala, Altuzarra's designs were featured in "A Place For Us," the newest pas de deux by renown choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. Clean and ethereal, the costumes consisted of a pale, sky-blue dress with ruffles that wrapped on the bias, and a coordinating men's costume with a white, draped top. The results weaved in effortlessly with Wheeldon's modern take on classic ballet.
And, yes, Fashion Week's home may now be Lincoln Center, but let's not forget that the NYC Ballet has been there all along. This design-meets-dance collaboration is the perfect way to honor them both. See more snaps from the Altuzarra designs en pointe, ahead.
