Vittorio Missoni Missing After Plane Disappears In Venezuela

UPDATE: Though most assumed a plane crash, a recent lead in the case suggests Vittorio Missoni, his wife, and his travel companions may have been kidnapped. Missoni's family received a text message from him saying "Call now, we are reachable" on Sunday night after he disappeared, and while the phone company confirms the message was sent, they can't say when with certainty. After spending the holidays at a resort on a Venezuelan island, Missoni exec (and son of the luxury brand's founder) Vittorio Missoni is missing, along with his wife, two pilots, and another couple with whom they were traveling on a small plane. The plane went missing about 10 nautical miles away from the takeoff destination on Los Roques.
The aircraft was reported missing yesterday, January 4, the same date when another small plane went missing in the same area last year. 58-year-old Missoni heads up the business side of his father's company for the American and French divisions, while his siblings manage creative direction. Italian and Venezuelan officials are currently working together on a search. (Fashion Telegraph)
