Peek Into Jason Wu’s Latest Collection

In our world, the visual revelry of Fashion Week can only be likened to the Oscars. Luckily though, we've got WAY better fashion to go around. And Jason Wu is definitely one of the designers we can always count on for a heady dose of fanciful feminism and glamour personified. Since his show is one of the ones we look forward to the most, he gave us a little preview with a snap of his fall '11 mood-board and a peek inside his pre-Fashion Week universe...it sure is pretty.
P.S.: Want to see it live? Watch the show online at BergdorfGoodman.com on February 11 at 1p.m. E.T., where you can then make your spring '11 pre-order on the 16th as well!

jason-wu-portraitTell us how Polidori and Versailles took hold of this collection.
"I found contrast between the opulent decors with the raw materials seen mid-construction really intriguing. The varying degrees of restoration shown in Polidoir's photographs further enveloped the idea of deconstructing prettiness in the collection."

What other elements were at play to make the collection feel modern against all these grand influences?
"It is an exploration between austerity and lightness-mixing luxurious fabrics, intricate embellishments with sharp tailoring with a garcon twist."

How is this collection an evolution from the last?
"I continue to focus on a sophisticated elegance reflected thru the modern sensibility of American sportswear. Every season I want to evolve the way the clothes are made and explore interesting techniques—it's about refining my craft."

Besides your own, whose show do you wish you could attend?
"Duro Olowu—we met in Europe and became friends. He is so talented!"

If this collection had a contemporary muse, who would it be?
"Diane Kruger is one of my perennial muses."

Fashion Week vice?
"M&M's!"
