Your Favorite Childhood Treat Just Got A Grown-Up Makeover

The sun is shining, the temperature is a perfect 74 degrees, and the moment you step out the door, you're struck with an overwhelming urge to jump through every sprinkler you see...until you realize that your 9:30 meeting isn't going anywhere. Having to sit in an office this time of year never fails to stir up our nostalgia for carefree childhood summers, when our most pressing concern was chasing down the ice-cream truck on sweltering afternoons.

While we can't get you out of work for a frozen treat, we think we found something even better: a Malibu rum-spiked take on a crunchy candy bar, complete with vanilla ice cream, shredded coconut, and, of course, lots of melty chocolate. Blend it up and treat yourself — during after-work hours, that is.

Coconut Candy-Bar Boozy Milkshake

Serves 4

1/2 pint coconut sorbet
1/2 pint vanilla ice cream
1 cup Malibu rum
1 cup hot fudge or melted chocolate
Chocolate shavings
Coconut shavings or shredded coconut


1. In a blender, combine coconut sorbet, ice cream, and rum. Blend to desired thickness.

2. Place about 1/4 cup of hot fudge or melted chocolate into the bottom and sides of each glass. Pour in the milkshake mixture.

3. Garnish with chocolate and coconut.
