4 Summer 'Dos From A Celebrity Stylist — You're Welcome!

For the most part, summer fashion is all about staying cool and looking effortless — not sloppy. But as you go from wearing shorts to a sundress, don't forget to change your hair along with it. Sure, the ponytail is a timeless classic, but we were lucky enough to learn four easy summer 'dos from Aussie celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa (pictured!) during her recent trip to the Windy City.
A native of Chicago, Potempa got her first big break working as an assistant for Bob Recine, a legendary hair designer responsible for styling some of the most prominent runway shows in the world (not a bad first gig, no?). After spending several years jet-setting around the world, working on some pretty amazing projects, Potempa eventually wound up creating a name for herself as a celebrity stylist.
Today, she has an impressive client list that includes A-listers like the Olsen twins, Alicia Keys, Channing Tatum, Christian Bale, Olivia Wilde, and many more. And putting another feather in her cap, she's got her own rad line of styling tools. Of course, the icing on the cake? She's Aussie hair care's go-to gal for for tips, tricks, and trends.
So, without further ado, click through to see these easy, breezy styles to get you through the entire summer — and beyond.

Fishtail Braid: Perfect For A Sporting Event

1. Divide hair into two sections.

2. Take a piece of hair from the left section and cross it so it is in the right section.

3. Take a piece of hair from the right section and cross it so it is in the left section.

4. Repeat steps two and three.

5. If you are weaving the hair OVER the top, it will give you more of a pattern with the fishtail shape coming through the sides. If you are wearing the hair UNDER (inverted), it will give you more of a pattern coming from the middle.

6. Continue to pull a little hair from each side and add over to the other side.

7. When braiding, make it a little tighter than normal because it will loosen when you let go. Keep your fingers closer to the root and hold tightly.

8. Depending on how thick the pieces you are pulling over are, your fishtail can be many different widths.

9. When you get to the bottom, either continue the fishtail, or switch to a regular braid. Go as far down as possible and secure with an elastic. Apply Aussie Mega Hairspray to tame flyaways.
