15 AMAs Red Carpet Looks That Shut. It. Down.

There's nothing quite like an awards show red carpet to make us temporarily forget about whatever's going on in the real world. And judging by past years, the American Music Awards will deliver on all the things that make posting up in front of your TV for five or so hours on a Sunday evening worth it — We want drama! We want innovation! We want to ask why? We want to say YES! This time around, the event is being hosted by our forever favorite Tracee Ellis Ross, who has so much style that she can convince us that those crazy Balenciaga dad sneakers are actually the coolest thing ever. As if that wasn't enough, her mother Diana Ross (maybe you've heard of her?) is getting a lifetime achievement award, and she always brings it (remember when she bounced Lil Kim's boob at the VMAs?)

Just when we thought we couldn't get any more divas in one room, we're about to take several seats because the night promises performances by Christina Aguilera — paying homage to Whitney Houston (screams!) — Lady Gaga, and Selena Gomez. *Extreme Stefon Voice*: This night has everything. But before we get to all of that, we have to first fan over the night's best dressed. Here's a little outfit inspiration to get you through the rest of the week.

Tracee Ellis Ross has quickly become one of our favorite style icons, and this sequined Stella McCartney gown is a perfect example why. From the front, it's a slinky, old-school glam dress with a turtleneck; from the back — boom! Skin city! And the best part? She knows how to work it.
Selena Gomez's leather jacket-inspired minidress by Coach is a definite winner. It fits her like a glove and hints at her new rebel attitude — and maybe a leather fetish? We're also loving her new blonde 'do with just the right amount of dark roots coming through.
We have been waiting for Hailee Steinfeld to really OWN the red carpet for a while now, and my god, this Mugler look totally did it. We've never met a power shoulder we didn't like, and her slicked back wet-look hair, the subtle smoky eye, and the gunmetal manicure perfectly round everything out.
Kelly Clarkson looks like molten gold in this custom Christian Siriano look and we are d-y-i-n-g! She's like the supreme goth witch we never knew we needed in our lives. (And speaking of things we badly need, can we talk about her blood red lipstick?)
The AMA's take place on the West Coast where it's forever warm, but we're definitely wanting to wear this Missoni coat on those cold East Coast days to come. Oh, and the over-the-knee boots peaking out from the maxi-length skirt give just the right dose of sex appeal. Shall we call this pairing Lampshading 2.0?
Sadie Sink plays our favorite tomboy on Stranger Things, and she's also in one of our favorite looks of the evening; a minimal chainmail Prada dress that's feminine with an edge. Just like our favorite "Mad Max."
Some of us will forever love Ashlee Simpson — remember The Ashlee Simpson Show?— so it makes us happy to see her thriving. This Christian Siriano disco gown is E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G; the perfect look for celebrating her mother-in-law's lifetime achievement award. You would think the gold jewelry was too much and somehow it's just what the doctor ordered.
Anytime formal shorts make a red carpet appearance we are thrilled. Yara Shahidi's embellished gray Prada ones are like the most luxurious girl scout uniform that ever existed. The knee-high socks and silver Mary Jane combination works so well that we're left wondering: Do they have a merit badge for killer looks? Because they should.
Let's hear it for the Riverdale squad. Madeleine Petsch is sleek and polished in a midi-length sheer gown with lace and feather details. We'd like this in our closets, now.
Fringe is definitely having a moment, and Chrissy Metz's Kiyonna number has just the right amount of detail at the shoulder and the hem. She continues the festive theme with her rainbow glitter clutch, which is just the cutest.
Is there anything not to love about Pink's rockabilly-inspired look? Her very '50s, frothy gown by Monique Lhullier topped off by a pastel pink bouffant hairdo is the reason we're hopelessly devoted to the singer.
The princess is here and she's wearing an Alexandre Vauthier croc dream! Honestly, Ciara can do no wrong.
Nicole Kidman's black velvet Olivier Theyskens slip dress and knee-high leather boots is making us wish for a Practical Magic reboot.
It's impossible for Kelly Rowland to not look flawless. It's true, look it up! Our favorite part of her Galia Lahav gown are the balloon sleeves that are half-velvet, half-mesh — so decadent!
