Let Anna Kendrick, Beyoncé, & More Stars Give You Amazing Advice On Turning 30

Turning 30 is great, and don't let anyone — especially someone still in their early-to-mid-20s — tell you otherwise. Sure, the idea of it may sound intimidating at first and letting go of your "youthful" 20s may seem scary (trust us when we tell you, that much of that decade is seen through rose-colored glasses), but your 30s are truly where it's at. Sex, work, and so many other aspects of your life improves in every conceivable way. But don't just take our word for it: Some of the most powerful, funny, smart, and talented women in showbiz know this much is true.

On August 9, the oh-so-awesome Anna Kendrick will join the club of thirty somethings and she, along with other Hollywood HBICs like Beyoncé and Reese Witherspoon, have shared their wisdom on the big, beautiful 3-0. So whether you're already in your 30s, or getting ready to take the leap into this exciting new era in your life, what these stars had to say will surely resonate with you.

Anna Kendrick

The Pitch Perfect star isn't worried about turning 30 on August 9 because, well, in her mind she already is. Back in May, Kendrick told E! News: "I felt like when I turned 29, I was like, 'Well that's basically 30. So I've been sort of saying that I'm 30 for a year so it's gonna be an easy transition."

That's a pretty smart way to approach it if you ask us. And while Kendrick has no plans to officially ring in 30 (or as she put it, "F**k that, I'm not doing a birthday party") her totally cool, level-headed attitude about age just being a number is worth celebrating.

Olivia Wilde

When the actress/mom/activist turned 30 last year, she not only embraced it, she penned an entirely awesome piece about it for Glamour. Wilde gave smart, sound advice about the do's and don'ts about the landmark time of your life, like: "Do learn a new skill," "Don't feel pressured to pop out kids," "Do enjoy your sexual prime," and "Don't be bogged down by your past."

But Wilde — who also pointed out that aging is shamefully not embraced in Hollywood — perfectly summed up the 30s as "the Cut the Bullsh-t and Go Be Awesome stage." She's definitely living by those words and, no doubt, inspired the many other fabulous women doing the same.

Sara Ramirez

Ramirez, like Wilde, shared her thoughts on being 30 with Glamour, giving readers five helpful, heartfelt life lessons. The Grey's Anatomy star talked honestly about the fact that, even in your 30s you'll still experience setbacks and the pressure to settle down: "There is no magic number when it comes to meeting the right person. I got married when I was 36. I'm 38 now."

Now, let's be honest, we should be guided from Beyoncé at any and every age. But when Queen Bey turned 30 back in 2011, she had some fierce, empowering thoughts about it, which she shared with Harper's Bazaar. Beyoncé's message to women has always been to own their power and who they are, and she definitely felt that way turning 30, telling the magazine: "This is such a pivotal moment in my life! I'm transitioning as a woman, and I'm finally able to express myself as I am."

Who run the world? Thirty-year-olds.

Keira Knightley

The Imitation Game star has quickly become one of our very favorite no-BS Hollywood feminists. When she's not shooting down outdated, sexist red carpet questions, she's shooting down the stigma attached to turning 30. The actress, who turned 30 back in March, told the Toronto Sun: "I keep being asked about it like I’m meant to be having a nervous breakdown, and I didn’t realize I was meant to be having a nervous breakdown. I’ve got a lot of friends in their 30s and they all seem alright, so I’m sure I’ll be fine!" We think it's pretty safe to say you will be, too.

Kerry Washington

Turning 30 is no scandal, and no one knows that better than Scandal star and all-around powerhouse Kerry Washington. When the Emmy-nominated star turned 30 back in 2007, she didn't see it as a time to freak out, rather a time to really put you and your life in clear focus.

As Washington put it, she saw turning 30 as a time to ask herself, "'Wait a second. How much of my life really reflects who I am and who I want to be?'" Washington is now 38 and we can't think of anyone who has totally owned her 30s in a more strong, elegant way.

Drew Barrymore

While Drew Barrymore has gracefully graduated from her 30s to her 40s, the former child star still had some wise and wonderful things to say when she got out of her 20s. Like so many of the other amazing women on this list, Barrymore took turning 30 as an opportunity to reevaluate and reassess in order to embrace the next phase. As she told People back in 2005: "It made me want to look at myself and see what behavior I want to bring into my 30s...and what I want to leave in my 20s."

Reese Witherspoon

The Oscar-winning actress/mother/entrepreneur will turn 40 next year, but we'd say the 30s have been pretty incredible for Witherspoon. In fact, she shared some of the best advice about the most important person in your life in your 30s: you.

"Turning 30 was really big for me," Witherspoon said. "I can get really stuck on, 'I don't like this or that about myself.' I've found that the only thing that breaks that for me is being able to spend time alone, going to the movies by myself or going to art museums alone. I do that a lot. I've discovered the importance of even 15 or 30 minutes a day where it is just me."

Britney Spears

The pop star spent most of her teens and 20s under the continuous watch of the public eye, so it was no wonder she told Glamour back in 2011 that she couldn't wait to turn 30.

As Spears perfectly put it to the magazine, "I think the older you get, the wiser you get…I'm really excited and I am definitely going to celebrate and do something spectacular." Spears may no longer be a girl, but she's most certainly a woman now, and she's as awesome as ever.

Kim Kardashian

When the media mogul turned 30 back in 2010, she admitted to People that she had "mixed feelings" about turning 30. She also acknowledged that she was already "so accomplished and it's really no different than 29." It took just a little over a month for Kardashian to fully embrace her thirties, soon telling Access Hollywood, the age is actually "fulfilling and thrilling."
