Marilyn Monroe Would Have Loved This Lipstick Collection

There are certain brands we turn to when we're looking for the best of a category. When it comes to lipstick, we can pretty much always rely on Poppy King of Lipstick Queen to hold the key to our pigmented-pout dreams. King's latest collection — a haul of seven shades encapsulated in silver tubes, ranging from glossy crimson to vampy aubergine — proves us right yet again.
Each lip lacquer in the group (aptly named the Silver Screen collection) is inspired by "the slinky ladies of the silver screen," says King. While her Velvet Rope collection paid homage to the glamour of '40s cinema, Silver Screen gives respect to its sassiness.
The lipsticks leave behind a glossy finish that's highly buildable. Have Paris gives that perfect, just-bitten red stain, which can be layered into a full-on crimson; while Stella! adds an unexpected pop of purple that's more wearable than you'd think. And, just like their gold-tubed cousins, these don't feel like lipsticks. While they're super pigmented, their texture resembles a balm. Plus, they last beautifully: When they finally wear down, they don't leave that ugly rim that plagues us every time we forget to reapply.
As is the case with their predecessor, these tubes don't exactly come cheap. At $50, they'll cost you more than some high-end, designer formulas. But, if you can justify the price to yourself, these babies won't let you down.
The collection is available at Space NK and Lipstick Queen's online store. Click through to find your favorite shade. Whichever you pick, you're guaranteed a healthy dose of sass.
