It feels like just yesterday that Rita Ora was gushing about how in love she was with her DJ boyfriend Calvin Harris. The U.K. pop star is likely singing a different tune today, after Harris took to his Twitter page to officially announce their split.
"To address speculation," Harris wrote in reference to the fact that the pair hadn't been spotted together recently, "myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago. She is a beautiful, talented woman & I wish her all the best."
The cause of the split was not immediately made clear, but Ora alluded to the struggles inherent in a long-distance relationship. "You have to fly each other out, you just have to," she told The Mirror. "Sometimes you fly for 20 hours, sometimes you only fly for five hours. It’s an effort, but you make it work."
"I’m not a fan of long distance relationships," the 23-year-old added, "If you had a choice, you want that person with you. It makes me pretty sad. But you work with what you’ve got."
We can't help but feel for Ora, who told Elle UK recently that Harris "got something out of me that I never thought I had." (Us Weekly)
