Warning: The trailer you are about to watch contains many a gyrating hip and dollar-bill-stuffed thong. Yes, actor Joe Manganiello had his hand in its making. No, it's not Magic Mike 2. But, still, there's much man candy to behold. It's the red-band trailer for Manganiello's directorial debut La Bare, a documentary that goes behind the scenes of the world famous Dallas, TX, male strip club of the same name.
It is, for all intents and purposes, pretty NSFW. Magic Mike explored the world of male strippers through Tinseltown's glossy lens, but Manganiello's documentary (set to be released on June 27) seeks to go behind the glittery stages. Sure, the visuals are titillating, but things take a serious, very real turn as the documentary recounts of the murder of "the real Magic Mike," Ruben "Angelo" Riguero, the club's most famous dancer, who was shot dead in 2012.
"With La Bare, I had the opportunity to plumb the depths of this strange and provocative world hidden in plain sight," Manganiello told Vulture. Not all that glitters in the skimpy-male-thong world is gold, but it sure looks good on stage. (Vulture)
