Watching award-ceremony pre-shows is sometimes tough — you have to get through all those spray tans and fake chuckling and awkwardly overlapping, "Let's take it to you, Giuliana"s. That's why we couldn't be more excited that for this year's Video Music Awards, MTV went a less-expected, but certainly more awesome route, employing none other than Grimes and Rachel Antonoff to host the style portion of its Red Carpet Report. In the past, the channel has turned to the likes of Coco Rocha and Kat Graham in order to combine music and fashion, and this year is no different. Except we expect Grimes' new-wave music and style, plus Antonoff's America's fashion-sweetheart status to combine for pitch-perfect results.
