Model Watch: The New Karlie, Andrej, & More

It's hard to imagine, but there was once a time when even Kate Moss was an unknown and the "face" of your favorite fashion house was simply just another face in the crowd (albeit a ridiculously good looking one). But fashion moves forward, and that pre-fame phase may soon be phasing out for a new batch of models as well. Meet seven fresh and chic young ladies who have next-big-thing status written all over them.
Coming from all corners of the globes, these not-yet-leading ladies, may only have a few years of modeling under their belts, but they are already semi-recognizable from the runways, editorials, and various spots across web. And, while talented in their own right, these new faces also bear strong resemblances — both physically and in career paths — to some of the biggest names in biz who need hardly need an introduction.
Could this be the next Karlie? Or even, the next Andrej? Only time will tell, but for now, we're placing them side-by-side so you can start making predictions, too.
Ahead, the new crop of models to watch. Commit these names to memory, stat.

Kimberly McCullough, The New Karlie Kloss
While there are tons and tons of models we could describe as "long and lean," model-of-the-moment Kloss seems to be the one who stands out for her toned ballerina-meets-Olympian physique. McCullough, a newbie who's also the same age as Kloss, reminds us quite a bit of the strong-bodied, strong-featured model who's already established herself with runway appearances at Pringle of Scotland and in editorials for Numéro magazine.

Charlene Almarvez, The New Lindsey Wixson
These two may both be born in 1994 (talk about modeling wunderkinds!), but we see Almarvez potentially catching up to Wixson's amazing level of success. Like Wixson, with her unmistakable pout, Philippines-native Almarvez possesses a kind of babydoll face along with a ferocious on-camera attitude — a winning combination, indeed.

Jasmine Tookes, The New Behati Prinsloo
Besides Tookes' recent foray into the sexy-and-sweet world of Victoria's Secret, the Cali-born model reminds us of winged VS vet Prinsloo a few other ways as well. Both ladies possess a certain on-camera charm that reads well commercially and editorially. And, like Prinsloo, Tookes has already wowed in prestigious magazines like Vogue Italia, and on the runway, namely for Louis Vuitton, Balmain, and Prada. Something else these two have in common? Both ladies show regular social-media love. Follow Behati already? Be sure to check out Jasmine's tweets, too.

Antonia Wesseloh, The New Hanne Gaby Odiele
Like Odiele, Wesseloh is an unconventional beauty whose appeal is hard to pinpoint, but impossible to ignore. The German model hit the ground running in her short career (it's quite impossible to miss her Prada eyewear campaign in just about any mag you flip open), and has garnered the attention of designers who have already worked with experienced runway- and street-style star Odiele, at Rodarte, Valentino, Chanel, and Prada.

Erjona Ala, The New Andrej Pejic
Pejic's star has only been on the rise for a short space of time, but it's one of the brightest in the industry when it comes to models who really master that beautiful, androgynous look. This time, it's a lady who's giving Pejic a bit of competition. Ala, who looks just as lovely strutting the runway in form-fitting Cushnie et Och as she does wearing a man's pompadour on the cover of Dazed & Confused, is the new chameleon on our radar. Now, who wants to see Who Wears It Better, the Jean Paul Gaultier wedding dress edition?

Karolina Waz, The New Natalia Vodianova
With their piercing blue, doe-eyed gazes, pillowy lips, and the similar 5'10" statures, Vodianova and newcomer Waz could easily be mistaken for sisters (or cousins, at the very least). In her short stint as a model signed with Ford, Waz has already made strong entrances at both the BCBG and Marc by Marc Jacobs runway shows and totally rocked the Topshop spring '12 lookbook. We hope to see her continue to make a name for herself, and soon have even more in common with Vodianova, beyond the sultry looks.

Madewell Girl Michele Ouellet, The New Elena Greenwell
She's the girl next door, the Jenna Lyons lookalike, and the face you instantly think of when certain words like "floral maxi skirt," "tortoiseshell glasses," or "summer scarf" are uttered. Like a certain red-headed cutie who's been all over Shopbop, Ouellet is the new e-commerce It girl who models our favorite Madewell duds. Now, where's our credit card?
