Refinery29’s Ultimate Fashion Ornament Face Off

email
Y'all know how seriously we take DIY and all things seasonal and chic. While it seems like just yesterday we were competing (ahem, or, in this editor's case, winning) with our fashion pumpkins (R.I.P Annakin Pumptour), we felt it was time to turn our attention to something a bit more timely—Christmas ornaments! Whether you're partial to the Chanel tree-topper, the Karl Lagerfield bulb, or the aww-dorable little outfits on hangers, these ornaments will definitely add fab to any fern or chic to any chrysanthemum (if that's more your thing). Plus, check out the first ever fashion dreidel, where every side promises some sort of couture prize. Oh, and don't forget to VOTE! Nothing says holiday like some healthy competition, right?

A Christmas Karl

Inspiration: "The life and times of the iconic Karl Lagerfeld — but seriously, if we take away the tailored suit, sunglasses, and all the bling, he would be perfectly casted for a fashionista's version of A Christmas Carol's Ebenezer Scrooge!"
Steps you took and length of completion: "Cotton balls, cotton balls, and more cotton balls! Oh, and a major black magic marker. 1 hour."

If your ornament could talk it would say: "Always HANG with the with coolest in the world...or tree!"

One Haute Open Sleigh
Inspiration: "The idea just popped into my head, there was no real inspiration other than Anna and Karl are really fun characters. Somehow the idea of them looking like Peanuts-esque characters in a glamorous sleigh came to mind"
Steps you took and length of completion: "It took about 6 hours. I first made the sleigh out of cardboard, covered it in glitter, then I modeled the figures out of polymer clay and baked them, then painted them, and put everything together."
If your ornament could talk it would say:"Your ornament was nice — last year."

Flight of Fancy

Inspiration: "The queen of fashion of course, McQueen."
Steps you took and length of completion: "All in all this took less that 10 minutes.
I used spray glue to attach the gold leaf flakes. I also used glue to attach the feathers in a pattern I liked, then glued them to the bottom of the orb."
If your ornament could talk it would say: "I think the message is clear. There better be some McQueen under this tree as well. A girl can dream can't she?"

Chanel Tops All

Inspiration: "Usually Christmas trees have stars on top, so ours needed the fashion equivalent — a glittery gold Chanel symbol."

If your ornament could talk it would say: "a tree should be two things: classy and fabulous!"
