As a person who naturally gravitates toward neutral tones and "no-makeup" makeup, this shimmery, pink powder terrified me — especially when it was initially pitched to me as a highlighter. I am not a rave chick, I thought. There is no way in hell that I will use this as a highlighter. But, in the name of research, I took the plunge. And I'm so glad that I did.
It might look like a purply-pink glitter bomb in the jar, but this stuff actually glides onto skin as a sheer, rosy cream with barely discernible shimmer that attracts light wherever you place it. It looks a bit pinker on darker skin tones, but in a gorgeous, non-chalky way that adds definition.
Once I saw what this thing did to my cheekbones, I started spreading it everywhere. I layered it on the inner corners and lids of my eyes to brighten them, swept it across my collarbone, down my legs, and onto my shoulders for a pretty gleam, and even dabbed it on the center of my red lips for a cool, two-toned look.
The dome shape of the pigment makes it a cinch to apply — you can sweep it onto skin straight from the tube. That means no mucking up a brush or your fingers — or spilling loose pigment onto a white sundress. But the thing I love most about this product is that it's not your typical highlighter. The hue blends seamlessly into skin, but if you add a few more layers, you've got a pop of cool pink that's unlike anything you've seen before. Some might even call it galactic.
Topshop Glow Dome in Galactic, $14, available at Topshop.
