We're always on the look out for the next big hair color trend — and our findings usually just come up ombré. In fact, ombré has been a thing for so long we don't even really notice it anymore. But, this week we found ourselves at the crossroads of confused and delighted when we saw this picture of Caroline Polacheck on Aura Friedman's Instagram with her hair dyed to look like it's being illuminated with a beam of light. We'd like to categorize this as Concept Hair. The question is, should hair be so conceptual? We kind of like to think yes — we're almost always on the side of innovation in the beauty world.

this is called splashlights. It's definitely a traffic-stoppingly beautiful look, although it does seem like getting this effect would be an awful lot of work. The good news is, if you don't like it, you could always just extend the blonde to the ends of your hair, blend it a little with your natural color, and call it a day.
