Shredded: Tattered Knits Rip Through the City Streets!

tattered-knits-rodarte-2
Rodarte's fall/winter '08 apocalyptic knits appealed to everyone from Kim Gordan to derm queen Lisa Airen, so it's no suprise these deconstructed fabrics have been inspiring real-life looks off the runway. We've seen old sweaters destroyed in Stockholm and Vienna, and a DIY bodysuit loosely knitted in a purposely, cobweb style (only in Helsinki!). The Facehunter captured a woman in Paris taking a colorful, tattered sweater, and keeping it clean (and not so drafty) by wearing it under a smart black blazer and layered over a white shirt. If you show your support of a designer, dreams do come true: Laura and Kate Mulleavy actually offered to knit a pair of tights for Tavi, the 12-year-old style blogger. And for those not so talented in the fine art of knitted destruction, you can get your own sweater at Topshop this spring.
