Rad Or Bad: Would You Go For The Gold? Yellow-Gold Eyeshadow, That Is

dereklammakeup
On our (un)official Scale of Boldness, wearing yellow eyeshadow comes in at around a six out of 10. It’s definitely a statement, especially when you go for more of a shocking shade than a golden glow, but as Estée Lauder’s Creative Makeup Director, Tom Pecheux, proved to us backstage at Derek Lam, when done correctly, it can bring sunshine to your features like no other.

Inspired by the Californian girl with a twist of New York chic, Pecheux opted for the unconventional color to keep the look modern and fairly minimal, but also sun-kissed and bronzed at the same time.
The fact that this look worked for Estée Lauder Global Spokesmodels, Liu Wen and Joan Smalls, who clearly have different skin tones, suggests to us that Pecheux might have—quite literally—struck beauty gold.

Perhaps it’s his clever pairing of copper, green, and olive eyeshadows (brushed along the browbones) to offset the yellow, or maybe it has something to do with the amazing copper mascara he used to finish off their lashes. Either way, we’re leaning towards a "Rad" on this one. Do you agree?
