No-Makeup Makeup Is Our Favorite Kind Of Cosmetics

We don't think it's too much to ask that our face makeup not feel like five pounds of goop caked on to our skin. We also think it's completely reasonable to ask that it not only make our skin look good, but also actually make it better. But, apparently we're being a bit high-maintenance because we've yet to find anything that checks all those (totally reasonable) boxes. Until now, that is.
Dermatologist Dr. Nicholas Perricone understands that when it comes to our skin, we want it all. So, he's giving us just that with his brilliant new No Makeup Skincare line. Billed as skin care that also has makeup benefits, the line is supercharged with skin-nourishing and -perfecting ingredients but also provides just the right amount of tint and color.

According to Dr. Perricone, as our skin ages, we lose our natural pigments that bestow a youthful glow because of a change in the balance of pigment activity. The No Makeup Skincare line has been formulated not to radically change or cover up your skin, but rather add back in that missing natural pigment. Hence, the colors and shades are subtle tints and flushes — this is not the line you use when you want to get your glam on.
Dr. Perricone originally launched the concept a few years back with the No Concealer Concealer (we're BIG fans) and No Foundation Foundation, but he's reformulated them both as well as added a whole host of new entries. With additions like blush, bronzer, foundation serum, lipstick, and mascara, you can literally do an entire face of No Makeup Makeup.
We love that there's now a serum option for the No Foundation Foundation, for those who prefer an even lighter texture, and that the concealer now features a doe-foot applicator instead of the pump, which we found a little clumsy in the original. But, it's the mascara and the lipstick that really have us buzzing.
The mascara is a two-in-one treatment that has neuropeptides and biotin to help condition and strengthen lashes, as well as an obsidian hue that tints your lashes so they look more defined yet still natural. The lipstick also contains neuropeptides and helps enhance the contours of your pout and "mimics the rosy color of youthful lips" as it smooths vertical lip lines. Cherubic rosebud lips? Sounds heavenly.
