That's right! According to none other than The New York Times, "elite" nannies working for, we would suppose, some very elite parents can command more than $180,000 a year (with benefits!) for tending to tiny tots. Granted, these aren't your average nannies or babysitters, who still pull down just $15 or so an hour (plus all the popsicles they can eat). No, these ladies are multitalented caregivers who are closer to Mary Poppins (sans flight) than your typical Swedish au pair. The Times regales us with talk of nannies who "can steer a 32-foot boat, help manage an art collection or, in one case, drive a Zamboni to clean a private ice rink." Damn. We can't do any of that. Now, obviously paying for a nanny whose "presentation is such that you’re proud to have her by your children’s side at the most high-profile events,” is just another sign of how out of touch the 1% overclass is with how most Americans live. Still, we can't begrudge these ladies the money they earn. After all, have you ever spent more than a few hours taking care of a particularly bratty entitled child? Sometimes millions aren't enough.
