We always knew it — there are major advantages to living in the best city in the world (in addition to 24/7 food delivery). Our own Mayor Bloomberg announced at a press conference yesterday that people living in the Big Apple have a longer life expectancy than non-New Yorkers. Thought California living was 'zen'? Nuh-huh. Thought life out in Nebraska was so fresh and so green? No way. Looks like New York City is the place to be.
According to Bloomberg, we have his administration to thank for it, due to his tough crackdown on public smoking policies and early HIV prevention and treatment. So, the next time someone rags on why you chose to live in a rude, crowded, stinky city, just tell them, "I'm going to live longer than you are!" That's how you make friends. (Gothamist)
